This task set develops the Technology trends, best sources are MetaGroup's Meta Trends, or Gartner Group's Trends as specified in their reports. Trends are also available from the Internet, good sources are large governmental organization's architectures, and trade magazine articles. Care should be exercised to capture the latest trends and directions. Too many trends (I collected about 400) are overwhelming and they should be combined and consolidated to a significant 10-20.
